The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department.
S/he will accomplish objectives with proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying, and advertising.
The Parts Manager must be an investment advisor and profit producer.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Work with the Service Manager to ensure a timely turnaround of parts needed for internal work.
Develop, enforce and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
Handle customer complaints immediately and according to dealership guidelines.
Establish and enforce a pricing policy that balances volume, customer loyalty, and the cost of doing business.
Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence.
Obsolescence must be less than 2.
5% of inventory.
Establish individual parts inventory levels and balance them for maximum turnover.
Total parts inventory must be turned a minimum of three times per year.
Set and enforce a policy on the special ordering of parts.
Stock Orders must represent at least 65% of all orders.
Analyze departmental operations and storage layout and revise as needed for maximum effectiveness.
Direct shipping and receiving efforts to ensure timely processing.
Develop and produce Lost Sale Tracking Report.
Enforce safety requirements, including but not limited to MSDS sheets on all products carried, OSHA Employee Right to Know, fire code, storage and disposal requirements.
Analyze sales, gross, expense, and inventory on a monthly basis to maintain profit goals.
Verify purchase invoices and ensure that all purchases are properly accounted for before payment is made.
Monitor the percentage markup on parts obtained locally.
Keep parts department clean and the work area organized.
Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that may affect parts sales, storage, and disposal.
Be knowledgeable about wholesale compensation, co-op advertising, and other manufacturer programs.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
